There were only a handful of folks interested in the bus trips so they were not scheduled for the 2012 NDS. However, if you want to make a trip on your own at your cost, scroll down for more info.
4/11/12 THURSDAY, SHADY MAPLE PA DUTCH SMORGASORD. Some folks may head to the Shady Maple for supper. (The drive takes about an hour.). Look for directions at the Sponsor and Info Table at the NDS. (They also have a gift shop if you need a gift for the folks taking care of your rabbitry.) www.shady-maple.com
4/12/13 FRIDAY Authentic steam engine ride on the Strasburg Railroad. One car is going leaving the Lebanon Expo Center at 11 am for a train ride at 1 pm. More folks are welcome to join us. Look for directions at the Sponsor and Info Table at the NDS. Trains leave at noon, 1,2 and 3pm Friday, April 13 as well as other times on other days. Gettysburg is about 90 minutes from the Lebanon Expo Center. For Civil War history, the best way to start is by visiting the Gettysburg National Park Service Museum and Visitors Center and also schedule a 2 hour guided bus or auto tour with a licensed guide ( this is recommended) offered by a separate company, but you need to book the guided tour at least 3 days in advance. www.nps.gov/gett
Hershey Park is open for rides Sat and Sun April 14 and 15. www.hersheypark.com
Hershey Park Chocolate World is open 7 days a week. Take a free tour showing how chocolate is made and shop for tee shirts and fresh candy at the same location. Also made while you wait chocolate souvenir candy bars inscribed with the name of those back home. Look for directions at the Sponsor and Info Table at the NDS.
