The 1940s

By November 1946, convention gatherings were already an important part of the Dutch fancy, with photographs preserving the convention winners of the era. Throughout the 1940s, discussions centered around “big Dutch” versus “small Dutch,” changes to the Standard, and the development of new varieties. Red and Lilac Dutch were exhibited in AOV classes, while a proposed Standard for the Red Dutch reflected growing interest in expanding recognized varieties within the breed.
