The 1950s

The 1950s brought continued discussion within the Dutch fancy, including debates over “small Dutch” versus “large Dutch,” revisions to the Standard, gray coloration standards, breeding practices, and the introduction of the club emblem in 1954. The decade also saw major organizational changes, including the creation of a junior division at the 1954 National Dutch Show, the beginning of the Seller’s Class, the removal of AOC competition status, sweepstakes sanctioning for one-day shows, and the search for a new host club for the 1960 National Dutch Show after the original club lost its ARBA charter.
